Muslim Friends is a site devoted to helping single Muslims meet the perfect partner for companionship and eventually, for the forming of a successful marriage. As finding the perfect marriage partner can be difficult, especially in the western world, this site suggests that, using the power of the internet, users can check out what is on offer so that meeting the perfect individual is easier. Whilst Muslim Friends advertises itself as being the ‘premier’ online Islamic matrimonial site, the site definitely could be busier if it is to live up to this high billing. That said, there is a range of useful features to help make getting to know other users that little bit easier.

Powered by Successful Match, Muslim Friends is part of a network of successful niche dating sites. Successful Match also runs Millionaire Match, Senior Match and Age Match, for example, testament to its pedigree within the online dating market. As a result of being part of Successful Match, users get access to a wide range of ‘pre-made’ features, which although useful, can give the impression of the site simply being a dressed up copy of numerous other sites. That said, users get access to a range of features, including news articles, an online instant messaging feature (allowing users to chat ‘real time’ with other members), forums and blogs (so that users can get to know each other in a safe, wider setting), greetings cards, dating tips and more. All of these features come labelled as ‘Muslim Chat’ or ‘Muslim Greetings Cards’, but with a few minor exceptions (such as the blogs and forums), these features are in the most part identical to the features offered on other Successful Match partner sites.

At the cheapest subscription price, membership to Muslim Friends is still $15.95 a month, making it considerably more expensive than some of the other sites we have reviewed. This would be fine, but we can’t find a great deal of evidence that this site is as busy as it suggests. The wide range of features is great, but aside from issues around their quality, they aren’t much use if there aren’t many users online to share them with. Indeed, when we reviewed this site, we checked out the instant messaging feature, only to find that we were the only user online!
