MuslimMatch is an online community aiming to unite single Muslims through Halaal marriage. The service offered by MuslimMatch is a little different to the service offered by other dating sites in this category, being a ‘magazine’ style website based around conversation, discussion groups and blogs. The premise of the site is simple – conversation, and getting to know other users on this basis has the potential to generate long-lasting, meaningful and strong relationships that can develop into Halaal marriages. What is even better is that the site is completely free of charge to join, with no hidden membership charges later in the process, so users can sign up and get searching immediately.

Whilst the magazine/blog layout of the website is modern and engaging, it can be criticised on a number of levels. Firstly, the site doesn’t look like any of the other dating sites we have reviewed and the layout certainly doesn’t make the site very simple to navigate. We’re also a little concerned that the e-zine focus on the site takes the focus off the true intention of finding a lifelong partner, and that the site becomes more of a low-scale social networking site rather than a matrimonial site. Similarly the site contains an awful lot of adverts from the Muslim dating and matrimonial site, Qiran.com, a site that rates highly in our reviews within this category. Whilst we’re a fan of Qiran.com, it doesn’t exactly instil a great deal of confidence in the success of MuslimMatch! 

Despite the obvious issues with the layout of MuslimMatch, the site’s basic features are both interesting and helpful in aiding users in getting to know each other on the site. Users have access to a chatroom and discussion board, where they have the opportunity to chat to each other on a broader scale. The knowledge base allows users to search common issues they may have with relationships, marriage, dating or the Islamic religion and find answers from articles posted by other users. With more than 120,000 members worldwide, and a clearly active atmosphere on the site (with hundreds of posts each day), you’re bound to find the answers you’re looking for. Users can also get in touch with each other by sending e-cards to celebrate special occasions (such as Ramadan, for example) or simply to break the ice in getting in touch for the first time.

Whilst the blog style website is not particularly popular or traditional in dating sites of this kind, the format does make a refreshing (if somewhat confusing, at times) change to what users would normally find. We can’t help but feel the dating aspect is, in many ways, secondary to the community aspect of the site however, and would suggest that a user who is serious about finding love online might wish to try a site that is rated higher in our reviews for this category.
