Zawaj.com offers a unique service that is a combination of matrimonial and marriage site, and Islamic advice site. Zawaj.com was founded in 1998 with the intention of not only helping single Muslims to find each other, so as to form meaningful, lasting relationships, but also to help answer many of the questions that exist surrounding various elements of Muslim marriage, family life and relationships.

This unique combination of matrimonial service and dating site has proved popular with the site’s members and has contributed to its overall growth in the following years. A number of years ago, Zawaj.com began to run its matrimonial service through World Singles, meaning that, on registering for the matrimonial services offered through the site, the user is transported to a Zawaj site on World Singles.

Joining Zawaj is easy and quick, with members being required only to fill out a short membership questionnaire before being able to get going on the site. The matrimonial element of Zawaj is extensive and allows you to search through profiles using a range of excellent search tools.

In order to get complete access to the site’s features, including the particularly exciting, detailed and premium search features, users must upgrade to the premium membership option. Despite being a good matrimonial site, the price to upgrade is, we think, a little expensive, especially considering the site does not offer an instant messaging chat function (a feature that is largely considered to be a staple element of most online dating sites).

The unique selling point of Zawaj is that the site is a veritable treasure chest of information about the Islamic faith, weddings, marriage, family life, relationships, sex and much more. The founder of Zawaj has spent a great deal of time compiling resources for the site, many of which are not available anywhere else and represent a fantastic source of Islamic scholarly writings.

Aside from these articles, images and discussions, the site also hosts blogs and discussion boards on which users can ask questions about any topic and receive feedback and comments from other Zawaj users. This feature is clearly well-used, with a great number of new comments posted every hour, helping to contribute to the feeling of genuine community on the site.

Fundamentally, these community features on Zawaj are completely free of charge, and you do not even need to register in order to make use of the features and advice offered here. Even if you aren’t interested in the matrimonial service offered by Zawaj therefore (or are already a member of another site), these features are well worth checking out.

All in all, Zawaj.com is a good site with an excellent range of features that most Muslim singles will find both interesting and helpful. As the matrimonial service lacks a few key features, and is certainly more expensive than other sites we have reviewed, we would definitely suggest you check out the site’s free membership option before signing up to full premium membership.
